Police ID Victim In Fatal New Haven Weekend One-Car Crash: NHPD
On Shelton Ave., at 2 a.m. Saturday, her car travelled over a speed bump, swerved to the left and collided with a tree, police said.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Just before 2 a.m., Saturday, police were called to the area of Shelton Avenue and Gibbs Street on a report of a car colliding with a tree. When they got there, they found the driver of the vehicle suffering from apparent injuries due to the crash, police said. The victim, Shaquaza Morris, 25, of New Haven, was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
Police said initial observations indicated that the vehicle was traveling south on Shelton Avenue when it travelled over a speed bump, swerved to the left and collided with a tree. No other vehicles appear to be involved at this time.
Her next of kin was notified and responded to the hospital.
