NEW HAVEN, CT — Sunday night just after 9:30 p.m., two masked, and armed, males tried to rob the Whalley Avenue Wendy's, one of whom battered an employee in the head with a firearm, police said.
The two fled when they could not get a cash register open, according to New Haven police spokesperson officer Christian Bruckhart.
Employees told police that the two entered the restaurant, followed an employee to the register, when one "brandished a black firearm and started hitting the employee in the head with it," Bruckhart said, adding that the second male also brandished a firearm and pointed it at the other employees.
