Woman, 21, Found Shot In Blake Street Home, Critically Wounded: Police

The young woman was shot in her stomach & back, cops say, as they search for a suspect initially thought to have been barricaded in a house.

NEW HAVEN, CT —A 21-year-old woman is in critical condition after having been shot in the stomach and back, police said.

Cops were called to Blake Street near Whittlesey Avenue at 9:30 Monday night for a report of a gunshot victim, spokesperson Sgt. Cherelle Carr said, and found the woman inside a home.

Carr said that it was initially reported to officers that "the suspect responsible for the shooting was barricaded in a residence located on Blake Street," but a house was checked and that person wasn't found.
