Woman, 25, Dies After Car Hits Tree: New Haven Police

The fatal crash occurred early Saturday morning.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred just before 2 a.m. Saturday.

At 1:51 a.m. police responded to the area of Shelton Avenue and Gibbs Street on a report of a car colliding with a tree.

Police said they found the driver, a 25-year-old New Haven woman, who was injured due to the crash.

She was taken to a local hospital and later died as a result of her injuries, police said.

"Initial observations indicated that the vehicle was traveling south on Shelton Avenue when it travelled over a speed bump, swerved to the left and collided with a tree. No other vehicles appeared to be involved at this time," police said.
