Woman Jogging On Trail Sexually Assaulted, Police Searching For Suspect: New Haven Police

Police released a detailed description of the suspect, who possessed a silver box cutter, police said.

NEW HAVEN, CT — A person who was jogging on a trail south of the Fort Hale Dog Park was sexually assaulted, police said.

Around 7:30 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. on Saturday, police received a report that someone had been sexually assaulted while jogging on a trail south of the Fort Hale Dog Park at 408 Townsend Ave., police said.

The victim told police that the accused is a Hispanic man, 5'6 to 5'7 inches tall, medium build, late 30s/early 40s, wearing a blue patterned polo shirt, gray work pants, and brown dress shoes, police said.

He had dark brown/black cropped hair with a short beard and a possible rash around his mouth, police said. He was wielding a silver box cutter with a silver blade and spoke with broken English, police added.

He was last seen walking northbound on the trail back toward the park.

Police are asking anyone with information to call them and if they possess video footage from the area of Woodward and Townsend avenues between 5 a.m. and 9 a.m.
