Wreaths Across America Convoy Welcomed At Hillhouse High School

Hillhouse High School was a stop for the annual Wreaths Across America convoy headed to Arlington National Cemetery.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Tuesday, Hillhouse High School was a stop for the annual Wreaths Across America convoy headed to Arlington National Cemetery.

The traveling veterans and families were greeted by Hillhouse JROTC students, Mayor Justin Elicker and schools Superintendent Dr. Madeline Negrón.

The high school was chosen because students in the JROTC program at Hillhouse have participated in Wreaths Across America, laying wreaths at Westville Cemetery in New Haven for the past four years.

The convoy, transporting donated holiday wreaths that will be laid throughout Arlington National Cemetery, began Dec. 6 in Columbia Falls, Maine, and ends Dec. 14 in Arlington, Virginia, on National Wreaths Across America Day.

In the convoy are approximately 160 veterans and Gold Star and Blue Star family members.

The convoy itself includes Patriot Guard riders on motorcycles, 12 SUVs, three staff vehicles, a bus, 13 tractor trailers, 16 police cruisers, and three passenger vans.

The convoy stopped along Sherman Avenue in front of the high school and was greeted by JROTC students, the Hillhouse High School Band, and cheerleaders.
