Yale Stuns Auburn To Advance In 2024 March Madness Tournament

NEW HAVEN, CT — The 13th seed Yale University Bulldogs are moving onto the second round of the 2024 men's NCAA basketball tournament with a 78-76 win over the Auburn Tigers, the 4th seed, on Friday evening.

The game came down to a frantic last eight seconds where Auburn missed two free throws that could have tied the game, but Auburn grabbed the rebound on the second missed free throw and missed three shots at the buzzer and Yale held on for the victory.

Yale was led by John Poulakidas who scored 28 points. Yale trailed by seven at halftime but surged in the second half behind Poulakidas and clutch free throws.

Yale will advance to the second round with a game on Sunday.

On social media, Yale posted, "STUNNER IN SPOKANE We knock out No. 4 seed Auburn."
