NEW HAVEN, CT — Yes, in my backyard.

Mayor Justin Elicker delivered welcoming remarks at YIMBYtown 2025, the largest annual pro-housing conference in the country, hosted this year in New Haven and by Desegregate CT and the Regional Plan Association.

The three-day conference, spanning Sunday to Tuesday, gathered leading advocates, organizers, academics, policymakers and public officials dedicated to promoting affordable and abundant housing, innovative policy solutions, and best practices.

During the Elicker Administrations, the city has advanced an "aggressive pro-housing agenda."

"In New Haven, we're really leaning into this challenge," Elicker said.

According to a news release, New Haven "set an ambitious goal of building 10,000 new housing units over the next 10 years, with at least 30 percent of those being affordable."

"Since 2020, when Mayor Elicker first took office, over 4,000 new units have been brought online in the Elm City and there are nearly 6,000 new units in the pipeline," the news release reads. "In 2024, New Haven led the state with nearly 600 new housing permits, serving once again as a statewide leader in driving more affordable housing and inclusive growth and development."
