Ann Setright Mercer, 85, of New Milford, Passed Away

NEW MILFORD, CT — Ann Setright Mercer, 85, of New Milford, CT, died May 25, 2016 at Candlewood Valley Health & Rehabilitation Center after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of Lester F. Mercer of New Milford, CT. She was the daughter of James and Catherine Setright. Ann was a graduate of Syracuse University in 1952. She worked at Bell Laboratories in New Jersey before starting a family.

After raising eight children, Ann drove a van for special needs children, worked at the Cardtique and then spent many years volunteering for Meals-On-Wheels. In recent years, Ann enjoyed Tai Chi, walking at Harrybrooke Park and spending time with her grandchildren and many friends.

Ann is survived by her eight children: her son, Michael Mercer, and his wife Holly; her daughter, Barbara Hartung, and her husband, Dan; her daughter, Patricia Boudreau, and her husband, Mark; her daughter, Susan Costanzo, and her husband, Dino; her daughter, Jan Strelez, and her husband, Rob; her son, Paul Mercer, and his wife, Laurie; her daughter, Mary Caldwell, and her husband, Thomas; and her son, Joseph Mercer, and his wife, Mary. She is also survived by twenty-two grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren (with another on the way).

A celebration of Ann's life will be held at Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge Street, New Milford, CT. on June 6, 2016 from 5 to 7 p.m. A private burial will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Diebold Family Cancer Center at New Milford Hospital, 21 Elm St., New Milford CT, 06776.
