Assistant Coach Arrested After 7-Year-Old Player Pushed To Ground In New Milford: Police
The child was playing on the opposing football team, according to police.

NEW MILFORD, CT — An assistant coach was arrested Sunday after police say he pushed a 7-year-old to the ground during a football game.
Daniel Joseph Fazio, 38, of New Milford, is charged with second-degree breach of peace, disorderly conduct, and risk of injury to a child.
The incident happened during a game between the New Milford Bulls and the Water-Oak Youth Football Team at New Milford High School, according to police.

Police said there was a disturbance between two assistant coaches after Fazio, with the New Milford Bulls, pushed the player for the Water-Oak team to the ground.
This happened after a play on the field during the game, according to police.

Police said no one was injured during the incident.
The Water-Oak team includes athletes from the communities of Watertown and Oakville, according to its website.
Fazio is no longer an assistant coach for the New Milford Bulls, according to the organization.
New Milford Bulls Football and Cheerleading posted on its Facebook page, “The New Milford Bulls organization does not condone the recent behavior displayed by our former Assistant Coach.”
“We have always and will continue to hold all our volunteers and representatives to the highest standards of conduct, both on and off the field,” the post said.
The organization indicated it is investigating and addressing the situation and will cooperate with law enforcement.
“We as an organization are deeply disturbed by the actions that transpired for our former Assistant Coach,” the post said. “We are deeply sorry to the children that were affected.”
Fazio posted $20,000 bail and is due to appear in Superior Court in Torrington on Oct. 2.
