Maria Jose Simoes-Simao, 84, of New Milford, Passed Away

New Milford, CT — Maria Jose Simoes-Simao, 84, of New Milford, beloved wife of Bento Simoes, passed away in New Milford, on July 1, 2016.

Maria was born in Azores, Portugal, daughter of the late Joao and Alexandrina Melo. She immigrated to the United States as a young woman and had worked for the former American Radionics Company and Glen Hill Convalescent Center, as well as raising her beloved children.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: John Simao of Danbury, Marie Adkin (Glenn) of Jupiter, FL, Herman Simoes of New Milford and Joseph Simoes of Danbury, as well as her grandchildren: Ryan and Kendall Adkin and Zack and Mike Simao and her sister Margarida Furtado, of Canada. She was predeceased by her sons: Jose Carlos, Serafim and Hirminio Simoes and several brothers and sisters.

The family would like to thank all of the staff at Candlewood Valley Health and Rehabilitation for the care and compassion provided to Maria and the family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, on Friday morning at 10:00 a,m. Interment will follow at St. Peter Cemetery, Family and friends may call at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, on Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
