New Milford Resident Kathleen H. Sullivan, 81, Passed Away

She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and Court of St. Mary Catholic Daughters of America.

New Milford, CT — Kathleen H. Sullivan, 81, a long-time Stamford and recent Monroe resident, died July 8, 2016 after a brave struggle with cancer. She was a woman of deep faith who cherished her family and friends.

Kathleen was born in Stamford on March 2, 1935 and graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1952. When her children were young, she was a stay-at-home mother, but throughout her life she worked for periods at the Hartford Electric Light Company (Helco), where she met her husband, the Stamford Public Schools and Olin Corporation, from which she retired in 1991. Kathleen was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Court of St. Mary Catholic Daughters of America, and Church of St. Cecilia. Kathleen also served as volunteer at St. Cecilia, New Covenant House Soup Kitchen and the Tully Center.

Kathleen was predeceased by her husband, John L. (Jack) Sullivan, her parents, Catherine and Joseph Hardiman, and a brother, John Hardiman, all of Stamford. She is survived by three children: Neil Sullivan and his wife Debbie of Trumbull, CT, Larry and his wife Betsy of Fairfield, CT and Kathy Albano and her husband Tony of Sandy Hook, CT; five grandchildren: Kelley and Kevin Sullivan, Matthew Sullivan and Sophia and Jack Albano; sister-in-law Ita Hardiman, in-laws Agnes & John Benison, sister-in-law Anne Sullivan, numerous nieces and nephews as well as other beloved family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at the Church of St. Cecilia, 1184 Newfield Ave., Stamford CT at 10:30am on Wednesday July 13, 2016. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday July 12, 2016, from 4pm to 8pm at Shippan's Thomas M. Gallagher Funeral Home,(next to Knights of Columbus) 453 Shippan Ave., Stamford, CT.

Kathleen and her family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of the Smilow Cancer Center in Trumbull and the staff of The Connecticut Hospice for their care and compassion during Kathleen's illness.
