Sonya B. Lloyd, 97, Passed Away
Ms. Lloyd died on Monday May 16, 2016 at Candlewood Valley Health Care Center in New Milford.

NEW MILFORD, CT — Sonya B. Lloyd, 97, beloved wife of the late James L. Lloyd, died Monday May 16, 2016 at Candlewood Valley Health Care Center in New Milford. She was a longtime resident of Meriden before moving to New Milford. Born in Norwich, CT on January 18, 1919, she was the daughter of Harry Baran and Mary Kirychuk.
Sonya was the second oldest of twelve children and a graduate of Meriden High School, Class of 1937. She was an executive secretary to the general manager of Ryerson Steel in Wallingford for twenty-five years before her retirement. She was a very successful real estate agent for Midstate Realty in Cheshire for many years. Sonya was a parishioner of SS Peter and Paul Church in Meriden. She loved to travel and made many trips to Las Vegas. She enjoyed bingo and playing cards and was very spirited with a zest for life, but most of all, Sonya loved being with her family.
She is survived by her daughter Dr. Kathleen L. Matusiak and her husband Fred Silverman of New Milford. She leaves two grandchildren: Krista Perry and her husband Kevin of Cumberland, RI and Andrew Matusiak and his wife Shaina of Thomaston and two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Ryan Perry. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
