9 Newtown Restaurants Named To CT Magazine 2023 Best Restaurants List

NEWTOWN, CT — Nine Newtown restaurants were named to the Connecticut Magazine Best Restaurants 2023 list.

Sal e Pepe on South Main Street won big. The eatery was named the top Italian restaurant in the state, the best restaurant overall in Fairfield County, and the county's most romantic spot to wine and dine a date by Connecticut Magazine readers. The restaurant's desserts were also rated the best in Fairfield County, and second best in the state.

A little further down South Main, Mexicali Rose was rated the best Mexican restaurant in Fairfield County.

In a rare double ethnic category score, readers named Toro on Churchill Road the statewide runner-up in Japanese cuisine, and the magazine's panel of experts cited its Chinese cooking as well.
