Newtown Police Log: Deer Strike, Disorderly Conduct, Protective Order Case
Newtown Police reported a protective order case, a deer strike, utility damage, and several crashes in mid-December.
NEWTOWN, CT — Newtown Police released a series of incident and criminal reports from late November through mid-December involving a protective order violation, vehicle crashes on snow-covered roads, utility and guardrail damage, and a deer strike.
Protective Order Violation Case
Police said Lynsey Dianne Lotty, 47, of Shelton, was taken into custody by Shelton police on Dec. 18 in connection with an active Newtown warrant tied to a Sept. 23 incident on Turkey Hill Terrace. Lotty was charged with violation of a protective order and released on a written promise to appear in Danbury Superior Court on Dec. 19, according to a criminal information summary.
Deer Struck on Boggs Hill Road
On Dec. 16, a Lexus traveling south on Boggs Hill Road near Head O’ Meadow Elementary School struck a deer that entered the roadway. The driver was not injured, and the vehicle sustained minor front-end damage. Police said the deer was severely injured and later dispatched. No enforcement action was taken.

Utility Box Damaged on Edmond Road
Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash reported Dec. 14 on Edmond Road south of School House Hill Road, where a black pickup truck left the roadway in snowy conditions and struck a Frontier Communications utility box containing fiber equipment. The truck left the scene before officers arrived. Police said charges are pending if the operator is identified.
Crash on Button Shop Road in Snowy Conditions
Two vehicles traveling west on Button Shop Road were involved in a crash Dec. 14 after one vehicle slid on snow, struck a mailbox, and then collided with a disabled vehicle stopped in the roadway. No injuries were reported. The driver who slid received a written warning for traveling too fast for conditions.

Guardrail Struck on Toddy Hill Road
On Dec. 14, a Mercedes-Benz traveling north on Toddy Hill Road failed to negotiate a curve near Turnberry Lane, crossed into the southbound lane, and struck a metal guardrail. No injuries were reported. Police issued a written warning for traveling too fast for conditions.
Stop Sign and Tree Hit on Flat Swamp Road
A Subaru traveling northwest on Flat Swamp Road on Dec. 14 lost control on snow while turning toward Cemetery Road, striking a stop sign, a street sign, and a tree. The vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed. The driver declined medical treatment and received a verbal warning for traveling too fast for conditions.
Rear-End Crash on Berkshire Road Near Toddy Hill Road
Two northbound vehicles collided on Berkshire Road on Dec. 13 after traffic slowed near Toddy Hill Road. No injuries were reported. The trailing driver received a verbal warning for following too closely.
Lane-Change Collision at Berkshire Road and Wasserman Way
On Dec. 10, two vehicles turning right from Wasserman Way onto Berkshire Road collided when one vehicle changed lanes during the turn. No injuries were reported. Police issued a verbal warning for failure to maintain the proper lane.
Utility Pole Struck on Hanover Road
A GMC Yukon left the southbound shoulder of Hanover Road near Pond Brook Road just after midnight on Nov. 30 and struck a Frontier Communications utility pole. No injuries were reported. The driver received a verbal warning for a restricted turn violation.
Disorderly Conduct Case on Ridge Road
Officers responded to a dispute at a Ridge Road residence on the evening of Dec. 21. Following an on-scene investigation, Kristine Koehler, 48, of Newtown, was charged with disorderly conduct. She was processed at police headquarters and released on a promise to appear in Danbury Superior Court on Dec. 22, according to a criminal information summary.
Parking Lot Collision on Simpson Street
On Dec. 20, a vehicle backing out of a marked parking space at 8 Simpson St. made contact with another vehicle traveling through the lot. Both vehicles sustained damage, but no injuries were reported. No enforcement action was taken because the crash occurred on private property.
Rear-End Crash on Berkshire Road Near Sherman Street
Two vehicles traveling west on Berkshire Road collided Dec. 18 when traffic slowed near Sherman Street. The front of the trailing vehicle struck the rear of the lead vehicle, causing minor damage. No injuries were reported. Police issued a written warning for following too closely.
Two-Vehicle Collision on Queen Street
A minor collision was reported Dec. 19 at the entrance to the parking lot at 6 Queen St. when a vehicle attempting to turn right crossed into a through lane and struck the side mirror of a straight-traveling truck. Damage was minimal and no injuries were reported. The turning driver received a verbal warning for failure to drive in the proper lane.
Head-On Crash on Hattertown Road
A collision involving two vehicles occurred on Hattertown Road at Castle Meadow Road on Dec. 16 after one vehicle crossed the centerline while negotiating a curve. One driver was transported to Danbury Hospital with complaints of neck and back pain, while the other reported no injuries. Both vehicles were towed. Police issued infractions and misdemeanor summonses related to lane violations, license status, registration, and insurance.
Vehicle Strikes Utility Pole on Zoar Road
A car traveling east on Zoar Road left the icy roadway early Dec. 16 and struck a utility pole near Berkshire Road. No injuries were reported and the pole was not damaged. The driver received a verbal warning for failure to maintain lane.
Single-Vehicle Crash on Hoseye Coach Road
On the morning of Dec. 18, a Tesla traveling north on Hoseye Coach Road lost control while negotiating a curve and struck a rock embankment. The driver was not injured, though the vehicle sustained front-end damage and was towed. A verbal warning was issued for traveling too fast for conditions.
Rear-End Collision on Mount Pleasant Road
Two northbound vehicles collided Dec. 15 on Mount Pleasant Road near Taunton Lane when the lead vehicle slowed to make a left turn. No injuries were reported, but one vehicle was towed due to damage. Police issued an infraction for following too closely.
Mailbox Damaged on Swamp Road
A vehicle traveling east on Swamp Road on Dec. 15 lost control while navigating a curve and struck a mailbox at a nearby residence. No injuries were reported. The driver received a verbal warning for traveling too fast for conditions.
Two-Vehicle Crash Near Toddy Hill Road
A rear-end collision occurred Dec. 16 on Berkshire Road west of Toddy Hill Road after one vehicle braked suddenly and the following vehicle slid on sand in the roadway. No injuries were reported and both vehicles remained operable. Police issued a verbal warning for following too closely.
