Accused Rapist, Serial Killer Moved to Newtown Prison: Report

An accused rapist who was convicted of killing a woman and is suspected of murdering six others has been moved to Newtown prison. BREAKING

NEWTOWN, CT — A man who was arrested last September for killing Nilsa Arizmendi, 33, and suspected of killing six others has been moved to Newtown's Garner Correctional Facility, according to The Courant. The victims' remains were discovered at the New Britain site during excavations between 2007 and 2015, the paper reported.

William Devin Howell, 46, was the last person to be seen with Arizmendi in July 2003, according to The Daily News who reported that she met him to buy drugs. Howell was moved to Garner after authorities learned that he was contemplating suicide at the Bridgeport Correctional Center because the prison failed to provide a desk chair and brighter lighting, the report stated.

The Courant reported that Howell faces charges in the 2003 rapes and murders of Diane Cusack, Joyvaline Martinez, Mary Jane Menard, Danny Lee Whistnant, Melanie Ruth Camilini and Marilyn Mendez Gonzalez.
