Guest Speakers at the Town Hall will include: Pat Llodra, Newtown First Selectwoman; Ron Pinciaro, CT Against Gun Violence; Abbey Clements, Survivor Engagement Lead, Moms Demand Action For Gun Sense in America, CT Chapter; Po Murray, Chairman of Newtown Action Alliance; Nicole Hockley, Founder and Managing Director of Sandy Hook Promise; Tom Campbell, Family of Victim of Gun Violence; and Reverend Matt Crebbin from the Newtown Congregational Church.
Wear Orange was inspired by friends of Hadiya Pendleton, the 15-year-old Chicago high school student killed by random gunfire only one week after performing at events for President Barack Obama’s second inauguration. First Lady Michelle Obama attended the funeral in Chicago. Her school friends decided to honor her life by wearing orange – the color hunters wear in the woods to protect themselves and others – on June 2nd, Hadiya’s birthday.

We have changed the start time from 6:30 to 6:00 P.M. so that you could join us, if you are able, at the free screening of Katie Couric and Stephanie Soechtig's "Under the Gun" documentary at AMC Danbury Loews at 8:00 P.M. After the screening, there will be a panel discussion with the producer, Kristen Lazure, Mark and Jackie Barden (who lost their son, Daniel on 12/14) and other members of Sandy Hook Promise. Please click here to see the flyer for more information.
Signups have been great so far, more than 125. We want a "huge" turnout. Let's remind America that we will not move on until common sense gun laws are passed to keep our families, children and communities safe. The conversation on gun violence prevention has changed since the Sandy Hook tragedy. It is now a priority issue in this year's Presidential election. Because of your support, the #NewtownEffect and the #ConnecticutEffect will go down in history.
