Concert, Movie, Basketball: What Will You Do Today?

In the mood for a free concert? Maybe a movie? Or maybe you're a Garrison Keillor fan? There's lots to do in Newtown (and nearby) today. Here's a peek:

Wandering Roots: Shawn Taylor and his Americana/roots rock band take over Dickinson Park for a free concert. For more on Shawn Taylor and Wandering Roots, check out their website. Starts at 6:30 p.m.

Last Chance to See: Today is the last showing of Fast and the Furious 6 at Edmond Town Hall. Showtimes are 7:00 p.m. and 9:20 p.m. Tomorrow opens The Great Gatsby, an adaptation of the Fitzgerald novel starring Leonardo DiCaprio.

"We Need to Talk": How do you talk to loved ones about when it's time to stop driving? This seminar at Edmond Town Hall helps adult children and friends through the process. Starts at 7:00 p.m.

Open Court: Up for a little basketball? Drop by the Newtown Youth Academy. Courts are open 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

A Prairie Home Companion: If you feel like going to Danbury, it'll be worth it to see NPR legend Garrison Keillor's A Prairie Home Companion at Ives Concert Park. Lawn tickets are $30 at the door or $25 in advance. Gates open at 6:00 p.m.
