Upcoming roadwork will cause lane closures on Interstate 84, Exit 9 in Newtown.
NEWTOWN, CT — Motorists can expect delays when crews install wrong way detection equipment in Newtown on Tuesday, March 26.
The work will cause lane closures on Interstate 84, Exit 9 in Newtown. Traffic will be detoured to Exit 8 onto Route 6 westbound, left at the split towards Interstate 84 eastbound, left onto Route 6 eastbound, back onto I-84 eastbound (Exit 8 on-ramp), then to Exit 9, according to a notification from the Town of Newtown.
The night work schedule for this project is 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., Monday through Friday.

Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will guide motorists through the work zone.
"Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area," town officials advised.
