Firefighter Injured Battling Fire In Newtown: Report

One person and seven pets were removed due to the fire, according to a report.

NEWTOWN, CT — A firefighter suffered minor injuries battling a basement fire on Brushy Hill Road Friday night, News 12 CT reported.

One person and seven pets were removed from the home as a result of the fire, News 12 reported.

Botsford Fire Rescue said on its Facebook page that crews helped a resident and dog leave the house. Fire officials said the origin of the fire was in the basement and that there "was damage to the floor above and smoke damage throughout the residence."

"Crews searched and removed 5 cats from the residence which were handed over to Newtown animal control,"said Botsford Fire Rescue officials on Facebook. "There was one firefighter injury which is reported to be minor."
