Firefighter Injured In Newtown Blaze: Reports

An elderly woman was inside the home at the time of the blaze.

NEWTOWN, CT — A local firefighter was injured while battling a garage fire in Newtown Sunday afternoon, according to multiple reports including NBC Connecticut. A passing firefighter called in the blaze, located at the corner of Fir Tree Lane and Berkshire Road.

An elderly woman was in the home at the time of the blaze, and the firefighter who reported the fire was able to help her get to safety. The injured firefighter suffered an injury to his arm.

The garage and car inside it was destroyed, and all five of the town's fire companies responded to the blaze.
