UPDATE: "Heavy Police Presence" Closes Some Newtown Roads Wednesday
A "heavy police presence" closed the area between Pebble Road and Huntingtown during a police manhunt Wednesday afternoon.
NEWTOWN, CT — A police manhunt shut down the area near Orchard Hill Road and Will's Road around 12:45 p.m. Wednesday.
Newtown police officers were given indication that someone being sought for multiple arrest warrants was unlawfully occupying a residence on Orchard Hill Road, according to officials posting on Facebook.
"Police formed a perimeter around the residence as the appropriate resources were staged to investigate," police said.

The Newtown Police Department's K-9 Unit, drone unit, and foot patrol officers, with assistance from several surrounding towns' K-9 units "conducted a thorough search that confirmed the individual was no longer in the residence," according to police.
The area was cleared and roads were reopened at 3:00 p.m.
