Katie Couric's Newtown Special Airs This Afternoon

Couric met with victims' families, local leaders and residents in February. The special includes the original song "My Beautiful Town."

 

A Newtown-centric special recorded by Katie Couric airs Monday, addressing the voices of the community in the months since the Dec. 14 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.

According to releases from Couric and Sandy Hook Promise, the special episode of "Katie" includes interviews with victims' families, local luminaries (including St. Rose of Lima Monsignor Robert Weiss) and an original song recorded by local music teacher Jim Allyn, Francine Wheeler (mother of victim Ben Wheeler) and their students.

Couric also spoke with founders of Sandy Hook Promise, the non-profit advocacy and victims' support organization founded in the wake of the shooting. The original song, "My Beautiful Town," is available at local retailers and on iTunes.
