Newtown Inland Wetlands To Address Unpermitted Activity, Erosion Control

The Newtown Inland Wetlands Commission will consider a cease and desist order for unpermitted activities.

NEWTOWN, CT — The Newtown Inland Wetlands Commission is scheduled to hold a regular meeting on Jan. 14, at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the Newtown Municipal Center. The agenda for the meeting includes reviewing applications, a show cause hearing, and other commission business.

Among the pending regular applications is IW Application #25-26 by MD285 Berkshire, LLC, concerning a property at 6 Stone Bridge Trail. This application proposes to replant trees and shrubs within a regulated area. The replanting is intended to address damage that occurred during previous clearing activities.

Two new applications are slated for acceptance. Stephen and Susan Wisniewski have submitted IW Application #26-01 for their property at 94 Waterview Drive. This application seeks to install three new retaining walls. The purpose of these walls is to mitigate further erosion of a hillside on the property.

Other items on the agenda include the election of officers for the commission. A continued discussion regarding potential public participation in meetings is also planned. The Deputy Director's report will cover agent approvals for short form wetland permits issued since December 10, 2025, and referrals, including a request for a letter of support to establish a Connecticut License vanity plate for wetlands.
