Newtown Marching Band Wins At Nationals: Report

The Nighthawks edged out their competition of 15 bands to win the National Championship.

NEWTOWN, CT — The Newtown High School Marching Band was recognized as being one of the best in the nation after capturing first place at the USBands Open Class National Championships. The News Times reports the band received an overall score of 97.363 and defeated 15 other bands in their class.

The championships were held on Nov. 11 at MetLife Stadium. Most of the top bands were within a point of eachother, but Newtown separated itself from the pack.

The band finished an undefeated season, using voiceovers and synthesized sound to accompany their instruments.
