Newtown Police Log: Crashes With Injuries, DUI Case, And Hit-And-Runs Reported
Newtown Police handled multiple crashes, a DUI case, property damage incidents, and a rollover between Nov. 15–25.
NEWTOWN, CT — Newtown Police released additional incident reports from mid- to late November, adding new hit-and-run and collision investigations to an already busy period that included a DUI case, rollover crash, and multiple property-damage events.
Parking Lot Hit-And-Run Outside Club 24
A parked Chevrolet Suburban was struck outside Club 24 at 266 South Main Street on Nov. 15. The owner returned to find damage to the driver-side quarter panel and bumper, along with visible paint transfer. A witness left a note with a license plate, but police later located the suspected vehicle and found no damage consistent with the impact. Surveillance cameras did not capture the incident. The striking vehicle remains unidentified.
Two-Vehicle Collision on Church Hill Road Near Commerce Road
On Nov. 20, an Audi turning left into a parking lot from the through lane collided with a Ford F-450 traveling in the designated left-turn lane. No injuries were reported. The Audi driver was issued enforcement for failure to drive in the proper lane.

Two Drivers Hurt in South Main Street Crash
Two vehicles collided on Nov. 17 at the intersection of South Main Street and Hawley Road when a Mazda turned left in front of a southbound Nissan. Both vehicles were towed, and both drivers reported minor or possible injuries. The Mazda’s driver was cited for failing to yield while turning left.
Rollover Crash on Riverside Road
Around 2 a.m. on Nov. 23, a vehicle veered off Church Hill Road, continued onto Riverside Road, struck curbing, a lamp post, and a stone retaining wall before rolling onto its roof. The driver was removed from the overturned vehicle and transported to Danbury Hospital with minor injuries. The case remains under investigation.

Vehicle Strikes Two Business Storefronts on Queen Street
On Nov. 24, a car pulling into a parking space at 6 Queen Street accelerated into the front of M&T Bank, reversed, and then accelerated again into the Newtown Nail Spa façade. The building sustained major structural damage but no injuries were reported. Police seized the driver’s license and returned it to DMV.
Vehicle Leaves Road and Hits Stump on Hattertown Road
Just after 5:30 a.m. on Nov. 25, a Subaru ran off Hattertown Road while turning toward Castle Meadow Road and hit a tree stump. The driver was uninjured and received a warning for failure to drive in the proper lane.
Head-On Collision on Berkshire Road
Two vehicles collided near Zoar Road on Nov. 24, sending both drivers to Danbury Hospital with minor injuries. Police said conflicting statements and damage patterns prevented a fault determination. Both vehicles were towed.
Rear-End Crash on Sugar Street
Two eastbound vehicles collided Nov. 25 when one struck the rear of the other near Juniper Road. No injuries were reported. The trailing driver was issued a warning for following too closely.
Single-Vehicle Crash on Swamp Road
An Acura traveling northbound on Swamp Road failed to negotiate a curve and struck a tree on Nov. 22. No injuries occurred. The driver was cited for operating without a license and warned for traveling too fast for conditions..
Mailbox Damaged on Mt. Pleasant Road
A red Mazda struck a mailbox and post at 108 Mt. Pleasant Road sometime overnight between Nov. 20 and Nov. 21 and left the scene. Police said the vehicle likely sustained bumper damage and requested information from the public.
DUI Case After Berkshire Road Crash
Police responding to a crash near Jordan Hill Road on Nov. 25 identified Randy Gonzalez, 37, of Cheshire, as the driver of the vehicle at fault. He was charged with reckless driving, DUI (third offense), and following too closely. Gonzalez was held on a $10,000 bond after being unable to post it.
In Connecticut, the legal blood alcohol content limit for driving is 0.08 percent for those 21 and older.
