Newtown Police Log: Trespass Warrant, Hit-And-Run, And Several Minor Crashes Reported
Newtown Police responded to a warrant case, a hit-and-run, and multiple minor collisions during the second week of November.
NEWTOWN, CT — The Newtown Police Department released reports of a warrant service, a hit-and-run case, and several vehicle crashes that took place between Nov. 5 and Nov. 13.
Trespass and Stalking Warrant
On Nov. 12, Teresita Chargualaf, 45, of White Plains, NY, went to Newtown Police headquarters in response to an active warrant stemming from a May 12 incident. She was charged with third-degree criminal trespass and second-degree stalking and released on a written promise to appear in Danbury Superior Court on Nov. 24.

Mailbox Hit-And-Run on Toddy Hill Road
On Nov. 10, officers responded to the area of 46 Toddy Hill Road after a vehicle struck and destroyed a mailbox. The driver, Matthew Moore, 20, of Sandy Hook, was later identified through a police database. He was charged with evading responsibility, failure to drive in the proper lane, and traveling too fast for conditions. Moore was released on a $1,000 bond for a Nov. 25 court date.

Rear-End Collision on South Main Street
On Nov. 10, a Ford Transit van struck the back of another vehicle stopped at a traffic signal on South Main Street near Botsford Hill Road. No one was injured, and the driver received a verbal warning for following too closely.
Three-Car Crash Near Newtown High School
On Nov. 5, police said a Subaru Outback struck two vehicles stopped in traffic on Berkshire Road near the high school entrance, pushing one vehicle into another. No injuries were reported. The Subaru driver was cited for following too closely.
Left-Turn Crash at Main Street and Church Hill Road
On Nov. 12, a Penske box truck turning left from Church Hill Road onto Main Street struck a Ford Focus, causing minor damage. No one was hurt, and the truck driver was cited for making an improper turn.
Intersection Collision on Dodgingtown Road
Police said two vehicles collided at Dodgingtown Road and Shelly Road on Nov. 12 after one vehicle turned left into the westbound lane. No injuries were reported. One driver received a written warning for failing to drive on the right.
Minor Crash at South Main and Cold Spring Roads
On Nov. 13, two vehicles traveling south on South Main Street made contact as one merged from the right lane. No one was hurt. The driver received a warning for failure to maintain lane position.
Two-Vehicle Accident on Mt. Pleasant Road
Also on Nov. 12, two Hyundai vehicles collided at Mt. Pleasant Road and Taunton Lane when one driver skidded on a slippery road. No injuries were reported. The driver was cited for operating without a license.
Parking Lot Fender-Bender on Church Hill Road
A minor parking lot crash was reported Nov. 12 at 19 Church Hill Road after one vehicle backed into another. No one was injured, and no enforcement was issued as it occurred on private property.
