NEWTOWN, CT - Newtown Recreation has a variety of activities for kids coming up.

SECRET AGENT LAB: SPY ACADEMY (AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM)
Look out 007 - The Mad Science Spy Academy is in session! From decoding messages to metal detectors and night vision, students will have the opportunity to check out equipment and even create their own edible message! Test solutions with indicators to determine the origin. Children will use the Secret Code Breaker to communicate stealthily, like real spies. With the Undercover Observer, children step into the shoes of a spy in action. The viewer allows them to observe visually, while the spy ear enhances their hearing. These tools provide a complete undercover kit for children to take home.

NIPS SOCCER
Come join us for NIPS (Newtown Indoor Professional Soccer) Senior League Soccer Friday nights at NYA. If you are a senior and would like to be a captain, the live draft will take place on Friday, January 2nd at NYA from 7-9 pm and opening day will be on January 9th. Grades 9-12 welcome.

FIND US IN THE FOREST
Children aged 7 through 11 learn S.T.E.A.M concepts to utilize in the classroom from regular and repeated visits to the adjacent Nature Preserve, where a diverse eco system exists. They will slowly acquire concepts of water flow, decomposition, forest art, dam building, snow shoeing, igloo and fort building and much more! All through an emergent curriculum, using nature as the tools and individual interest as the guide. Children will be closely observed for safety, as well as their level of ability and concept. This program will have a 4:1 student to educator ratio.
