Newtown Restaurant Named Among Top Fairfield County Eateries

A Newtown restaurant has been named a finalist in the competition for Fairfield County Restaurant of the Year.

NEWTOWN, CT — A Newtown restaurant has been named a finalist in the competition for Fairfield County Restaurant of the Year.

Each year, the Connecticut Restaurant Association hands out its CRAZIES Awards, which recognize excellence in the Connecticut hospitality industry.

Good Old Days Pizzeria & Cocktail Den, in the "basement/dungeon" of 19 Main Street, is vying with L’Ostal in Darien, and Taproot in Norwalk, for the top 2023 accolade in Fairfield County. One restaurant from the eight county winners will be selected as the overall Connecticut Restaurant of the Year.

Good Old Days serves salads and pizza only, according to its online menu. The restaurant specialize in two different style pies. One is the "thin and crispy" classic "bar style" pie, and the other is a square pie "cooked in a black steel pan with that ‘frico’ or olive oil/cheese crust."

The awards gala is scheduled for Foxwoods Resort Casino in Ledyard on Dec. 4, and is presented by Sysco, LLC.

Last year’s CRAZIES gala brought more than 1,200 guests together and generated more than 20,000 online public votes for award winners, according to event organizers.

The public can now vote online through the end of November for each category.
