Newtown Road Race 5k: Road Closures, Details And More
Here is what you need to know about the Newtown Road Race 5k coming up on Saturday.

NEWTOWN, CT—The 12th Annual Newtown Road Race 5K and Newtown Prevention Council Kids Run to benefit Newtown Youth and Family Services will be held on Saturday, September 2nd, 2017. During this time, parts of route 302 will be closed approximately from 7:00AM-10:00AM. Roads/routes affected include: Route 302, Elm Dr., Deep Brook Rd., Juniper Rd., Birch Rise Dr., Nettleton Ave., Baldwin Rd. To see a map of the course in its entirety, please visit our website at www.newtownyouthandfamilyservices.org. The 5k Race will begin at 8 am and the Kids Run will follow right after. Race awards include individual awards to the top male and female runners in each of the eight age brackets.
You can register at Newtownroadrace.com or print out a registration form from our website! Race packet pick up will take place on Friday, September 1st at Dickinson Park from 9 am to 6 pm. Race day Registration will begin at 7:00 am. The course is a certified 5K USATF course rolling through scenic Newtown. T-Shirts will be given to the first 500 runners and the first 100 Kids Race participants. After the race join us for food and fun! Breakfast following the race has been provided by Stew Leonards, Costco, Bagel Delight, Dunkin Donuts and Bagelman. Stop by the pavilion for fitness consultations by The Edge of Danbury and family zumba, games by Kumon, Face Painting and a visit from KIND Snacks.
