Newtown Schools Calendar For 2024-25: Key Dates To Know

NEWTOWN, CT — Summer is almost over for Newtown students. The first day of classes for students will be Aug. 29. There will be an early dismissal that day and Aug. 30.

The new state law regarding the Kindergarten age requirement begins with the start of the new 2024-2025 fiscal year. Now, students must be 5 years old by Sept. 1.

Here are some of the important 2024-25 school year dates to get on the calendar:

• Start date, early dismissal: Aug. 29
• Early dismissal: Aug. 30
• Labor Day, no school: Sept. 2
• Staff development day, no school: Sept. 25
• Rosh Hashanah, no school: Oct. 3
• Elementary and Reed School conferences, early dismissal: Oct. 23
• Elementary, Reed and Middle School conferences, early dismissal: Oct. 24-25
• Staff development day, no school: Nov. 5
• Middle and High School conferences, early dismissal: Nov. 13-14
• Thanksgiving recess, no school: Nov. 27-29
• Early dismissal: Dec. 20
• Holiday recess: Dec. 23–Jan. 1
• Martin Luther King Jr. Day, no school: Jan. 20
• Staff development day, early dismissal: Jan. 29
• Winter break, no school: Feb. 14-18
• High School conferences, early dismissal: March 13
• Elementary, Reed, and Middle School conferences, early dismissal: March 13-14
• 7-12 Only PSAT/SAT Testing Day/staff development early dismissal: March 26
• Spring break, no school: April 14-18
• Staff development day, early dismissal: May 14
• Memorial Day, no school: May 26
