Newtown Teen Competes in CrossFit Games: Report

From a family of athletes, this local teenager finished eighth out of over 2,000 athletes to qualify.

NEWTOWN, CT — Despite a fit of dehydration, resident Romy Gold took 11th place out of 20 teens at the CrossFit games in Madison, WI. While the condition did set her back from her fifth place position heading into Saturday, she made a personal best in the 1RM snatch.

Her older brother Cooper was a standout football and lacrosse player at Newtown High School. Her older sister Celia also competed in the CrossFit games. Romy Gold trains at CrossFit RedZone in Newtown.

Gold placed eighth out of over 2,100 to qualify for the championship. She was the top performer in the third workout, and is made her second appearance at the Crossfit games.
