Obituary: Barbara Ann Edwards, 89, Of Newtown

NEWTOWN, CT — Barbara Ann Edwards, 89, of Newtown, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Apr. 29, 2024. For 64 years, she was the beloved wife of Rudy Edwards. She was born in Bridgeport, CT, on Oct. 5, 1934, the daughter of Margaret and Anthony Gautiero. She graduated from hairdressing school and worked as a hairdresser and manicurist in Newtown for several years.

Barbara was skilled in crafts, making many home decorations for herself and her family. She also enjoyed baking and was known for her wonderful desserts, especially her Christmas cookies. She cherished time spent with her family, eagerly anticipating family camping trips and travels with her husband, Rudy.

Barbara is survived by her brother, Richard Gautiero, of Inverness, FL; daughters: Kimberly Collins (Wayne) of North Stonington, Cindy Leili of New Milford; sons: Mark Edwards (Terra) of Danbury, and Gary Edwards (Debbie) of Watertown. Also surviving are her grandchildren: Derrick (Kam), Bradley, Kiera, and Cole; great-grandchildren, Natalie and Raylan; a niece; and three nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Phyllis Babasick. She will be greatly missed by all.

Services will be held on May 10 at 1:00 p.m. at Honan Funeral Home.
