John Mack finished his last year as Supervisor here in Newtown. He did a great job and deservces recognition

What would you like everyone in town to know about your nominee?

John Mack brought something rare to local government: true transparency and a genuine commitment to keeping residents informed. He was a driving force behind stopping both the Chick Fil A proposal on the Bypass and the wastewater treatment plant, not because it was easy, but because it was right. He stayed approachable, shared information openly, and treated his role as a responsibility to the people rather than a title. That kind of leadership shouldn’t be unusual, but it is — and Newtown is better because he showed what it looks like. His departure leaves big shoes to fill, and I hope Ed and Melissa carry that same spirit forward.

If you could tell them one thing, what would it be?

If I could tell John one thing, it would be thank you. You were the one who encouraged me to start the petition to stop the Chick Fil A on the Bypass, and that single nudge changed everything. You showed me that ordinary residents can make a real difference when someone in leadership actually listens. We’re going to miss you on the board, but I know this next chapter will be a great one for you. And truly… I hope we see you on stage doing stand-up soon. You’ve earned some joy and laughter after all you’ve done for this town.

What’s something you love most about your town or community?

What I love most about our town is how quickly people come together when something matters. When residents see a threat to our quality of life, our environment, or our character, they show up, speak up, and support one another. It’s a community that doesn’t sit back, it gets involved.

We want to hear from you, too! Is there a restaurant, a contractor, a business, a person — even a place — that’s your pick for Best of 2025? Click here to answer a few questions, and your story could be featured on Patch.
