Obituary: Caroline Buechele Johanesen, 88, Formerly Of Newtown
While raising her family on Apple Blossom Lane in Newtown, Carol's neighbors became cherished family, sharing numerous life adventures.

NEWTOWN, CT — Caroline Buechele Johanesen, 88, of Southbury formerly of New Fairfield, and Newtown passed away peacefully on Feb. 6,2024. Carol was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Terrence M Johanesen Sr.
Carol was born in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of Eugene Buechele and Emma Fink Buechele. She attended school in Brooklyn, where she graduated valedictorian from Bishop Mcdonnall Memorial High School.

Carol is survived by her children, who will miss her greatly: Terrence M. Johanesen Jr. of Southbury and Laura Johanesen Natale, and her favorite son-in-law, Fran Natale. She also leaves grandchildren who meant everything to her: Jason Natale, Tara Natale-Bienvenu (Aaron), Emma Johanesen, and Alex Johanesen, along with three great-grandchildren, Noah, Kaiden, and Savanah. Additionally, she is survived by many nieces and nephews whom she adored.
Her sister, Jeanette Hoerman (Joe), with whom she shared a great love and special bond, survives her, along with her brother, Eugene Buechele Jr. (Rachel), and her sister-in-law, Maryann Johanesen, whom Carol considered one of her dearest friends. They spent many hours together on the telephone, sharing laughter, tears, and everything in between.

Carol devoted her career to telephone and communications, commencing at the NY Telephone Company in NYC. After relocating to Connecticut with her husband, she worked at Rotophone in Danbury, followed by many years at The Newtown Police and Ambulance switchboard in Edmond Town Hall. Her final stint was at Danbury Hospital Communications, where she retired at the age of 75.
While raising her family on Apple Blossom Lane in Newtown, her neighbors became cherished family, sharing numerous life adventures. She was also a member of St. Rose Parish. Upon moving to New Fairfield, she joined St. Edward the Confessor Parish.
One of her passions was traveling with her husband, frequently recounting stories of Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco as one of her favorite destinations.
Always devoted and generous, she absolutely loved forward to gathering her children and grandchildren for summer beach vacations be it Bethany Beach, Delaware, Ocean City, Maryland or Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Each and every vacation became cherished memories for each and every family member.
Carol will be sadly missed also by the hummingbirds, and assorted wild birds that came to visit her feeders and to say hello. A lover of animals, her cherished pets who have also passed will be waiting for her.
There will be a celebration of her life at a later date.
