Police Arrest Newtown Man on Heroin Possession Charge
A Newtown man was arrested for possession of narcotics and released to the custody of the Newtown Police Department on larceny charges.
WESTPORT, CT — A 31-year-old Newtown man, for whom police had an active warrant on an unrelated Larceny charge, was arrested Monday evening for alleged narcotics possession in Westport. Christopher Evans was a passenger in a car that police pulled over near Sylvan Road South at about 6:45 p.m. on the 3rd.
"The vehicle was stopped and Evans was positively identified," police wrote in a statement. "While taking Evans into custody, Detectives located 10 small 'folds' of presumed heroin in his wallet. The folds tested positive for heroin, with a weight of 3.1 grams."
Evans was processed at the Westport Police Department on a charge of Possession of Narcotics and released to the custody of the Newtown Police Department which held the Larceny warrant. He is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on the narcotics charge on Oct. 13.
