Police: Sandy Hook Will Remain Guarded Crime Scene [Updated]

Connecticut State Police offered little new information about the investigation into the Sandy Hook School shooting during a press conference this afternoon, according to a report by the News-Times.

Lt. J. Paul Vance did state that the Newtown school and the Yogananda Street home of the suspected shooter, Adam Lanza, will remain guarded crime scenes for the foreseeable future, according to the report. Lanza's mother, Nancy, was found shot to death in that home on Friday. Her identity and Lanza's were released by police yesterday.

Vance said police seized significant eveidence from the Lanza residence, but he did not specify the nature of it and would not confirm a report that it was a computer, the News-Times reported.

State Police Lt. J. Paul Vance told reporters at Treadwell Park Monday morning that while other schools in Newtown will open Tuesday, Sandy Hook will be closed for months, reports CNN. Police said the school will stay closed indefinitely.

The Newtown Police Department told Patch there "absolutely will be" police presence at every school in Newtown Tuesday.

In addition, the two adults who received gunshot wounds in Friday's shooting are recovering, said Vance.

The first funerals for the victims of the tragedy are today in Newtown and Fairfield.
