Editor’s note: We published this story earlier in the week, but here it is again in case you missed it.

According to the report, “A high ranking indicated that a suburb attracts young families with good schools and a safe community.”
It appears Niche.com believes that Westchester County is the best place in America to raise a family as three of the top 10 entrants are just to the west of Connecticut.

Scarsdale is voted No. 1 followed by Bronxville at No. 5 and Larchmont at No. 9.
Connecticut’s highest ranking community is Darien at No. 17 followed by Weston at No. 20, New Canaan, No. 51, Westport, No. 59, and Wilton at No. 62.
Niche.com also does a list just ranking Connecticut communities and after Darien, Weston, New Canaan, Westport, and Wilton, Simsbury is No. 6, Cheshire, No. 7, Glastonbury, No. 8, Madison, No. 9, and Easton at No. 10.
Rankings are interesting often for their omissions. Newtown doesn’t show up in the rankings, which includes 62 communities in Connecticut, which immediately calls into question the ranking system.
Despite the report not including Newtown among the top 62 best suburbs to raise a family in Connecticut, Niche.com is glowing in its review of the town.
This is what it writes about Newtown, “Newtown Town is a suburb in Connecticut with 27,772 residents. It has very high home values, very high rent costs, and average unemployment levels. Its citizens generally have high education levels and very high income levels.”
