Several Newtown Restaurants Among Connecticut Magazine's 'Best'

NEWTOWN, CT — Several Newtown and Sandy Hook restaurants have been named among the state's best for 2022 in Connecticut Magazine's annual Best Restaurants survey.

Sal e pepe was among the restaurants honored for Overall Excellence, best Italian and best Desserts, and Good Old Days Pizza and Marygold's on Main were named among the state's best New Restaurants. Marygold's on Main also was named one of the state's best New American restaurants.

Nouveau Monde was named one of the Most Romantic restaurants in the state, and in addition, the Sandy Hook restaurant also received best New American and best Wine Selection nods.

My Place Pizza & Restaurant was named one of the best Traditional American restaurants, and for having one of the best Beer Selections.

Mexicali Rose was honored as one of the best Mexican restaurants, while Kolam was named one of the best Indian restaurants.

Under the best Breakfast banner, Sandy Hook Diner was named one of the best, and Jewel of Himalaya was honored as a Hidden Gem.

Dozens of restaurants throughout the state were selected for the popular magazine's 2022 best-of list, with both readers and a group of experts choosing their favorites in a plethora of categories:

"Our annual Readers’ Choice restaurant survey was conducted online during September and October 2021; voters were able to choose up to three restaurants in order of preference (with the votes weighted accordingly) in each category," the magazine wrote. "Restaurants were limited to a maximum of four Readers’ Choice wins in the categories in which they received the most votes. After that, awards in further categories went to the next qualifying restaurant. Our panel of experts then recommended additional places in each category which they believe deserve recognition."
