Something Stolen From Your Car? Newtown Police May Have It

If you live on these roads in Newtown, you may want to head to the police station on these dates.

NEWTOWN, CT — Police say they have seized a "large amount" of stolen items, and are holding public viewings for people to come and claim their items. The items were seized after the arrest of two teenage boys for breaking into vehicles in Bethel, Danbury and Newtown.

Police recommended that anyone who is a victim of a theft from a motor vehicle from Nov. 10-13 should come to the Newtown Police Department on the following dates.

  • Saturday, Dec. 2 from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • Monday, Dec. 4 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Dec. 6 from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Police said the items were taken from vehicles on the following roads:

Danbury police reported to Newtown police that they had found a stolen Audi from Baldwin Road in Newtown which was involved in a crash in Danbury at 2:30 a.m. Monday. The suspects abandoned the Audi and stole a Honda Civic, which was parked in the area.

A Sleepy Hollow Road resident then called police, and the suspects ran into the woods. Police said an officer tried to approach a Cadillac Escalade, when the suspects spun the vehicle out and fled into the woods.

Area departments and state police from Troop A in Southbury searched the area, and Newtown police found two of the suspects a few hours later. One of the male suspects was found hidden in an unlocked vehicle, and the other was found walking on School House Hill Road.
