This is First Selectman Jeff Capeci with an update on our recovery efforts following Sunday’s severe weather.

Our Public Works Department is steadily progressing in restoring our roads. While all roads are currently passable, it will take several weeks to address all the damage. The primary concern continues to be the erosion of road shoulders throughout the Town. Many shoulders will need to be removed, the voids filled with gravel, and then repaved. This process will be time -consuming. Please exercise caution when driving through areas where our road crews are working, and provide them with ample space. Their safety is paramount as they work diligently to repair our roads and return home safely at the end of each shift.

I want to extend my deepest gratitude to all our dispatch, public works and Parks & Recreation employees, the Emergency Management Team and first responders who have gone above and beyond during the storm and its aftermath. They have worked tirelessly to restore our town and ensure our safety. I continue to appreciate their dedication during this challenging time, and they continue to earn our heartfelt appreciation.
