Storm Downs Tree, Damaging Newtown Home: Fire Officials

NEWTOWN, CT — Thursday might's storm uprooted a dead tree, damaging one Newtown home, Botsford Fire Rescue officials reported on social media.

The falling tree shattered on impact, causing "significant damage to the roof and soffit / eave."

The home was occupied at the time, but no one was injured, according to the firefighters, who were able to shore up the damaged roof using Paratech HydraFusion struts.

The damage was reviewed by the Office of the Newtown Building inspector, according to Botsford officials.
