This Weekend: Baseball and Theatre on the Schedule

Here's your itinerary for enjoyment in Newtown and nearby this weekend.

Whether you'll be getting out into the sun or staying in from the rain this weekend remains to be seen. Whatever weather Mother Nature brings us, you definitely won't have to stay at home. Here's a sampling of what's going on this weekend:

15U Babe Ruth Baseball New England Regional: It starts Saturday and goes through August 10 at Fairfield Hills, with Newtown playing Cranston, RI at 6:00 p.m. and First Selectman Pat Llodra throwing out the first pitch. Police captain Joe Rios will do the honors for the first game, starting 9:00 a.m.

Rally for the Renegades: Come support your World Series-bound Newtown Renegades at Newbury Place in Southbury Friday, where 15% of all sales go to help send players to Florida.

A Picasso: The acclaimed play from Newtown's town players wraps up its run at the Little Theatre. See link for showtimes. Tickets are $20 Fridays and Saturdays, $15 for Sunday matinee.

Ben's Bells: Drop by Ben's Bells in Sandy Hook to help make bells and spread kindness. It's free, but you may consider a $5 donation.

Beatles Music Festival: It's in Danbury, but for Beatles fans, it's a must-see. "Danbury Fields Forever" is a huge celebration of the 50th anniversary of a milestone in the Fab Four's career, and all proceeds go to Newtown's Dickinson Park playground project. Starts at noon.
