Tomorrow's Shooting: Sandy Hook Group Releases New PSA
The group's last PSA garnered over 43 million views in four days.
NEWTOWN, CT — Just three days before the fifth anniversary of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre, a group formed after the tragedy has released a public service announcement raising awareness for school shootings. In a newscast-themed video made by Sandy Hook Promise, a newscaster reports on "tomorrow's shooting" detailing what exactly will take place during the hypothetical shooting.
The group released the video to highlight their "Know The Signs" programs, which are aimed at helping both children and adults identify the warning signs of gun violence before tragedy strikes. In mock interviews, the "witnesses" share warning signs that were missed before the shooting described as taking the life of four children and two students.
"When news breaks about yet another school shooting, we often feel a devastating sense of helplessness and hopelessness," Sandy Hook Promise wrote in a press release. "Families and communities affected by the tragedy are left alone to wonder: How could we have stopped this?"

The release of the video also comes one year after Sandy Hook Promise released "Evan," another video aimed at raising awareness of the warning signs of gun violence. That video garnered over 43 million views just four days after it was released.
The setting is a typical American high school. In the opening of the video opening, the viewer is led to believe that the male student seen writing anonymous messages on a library desk is the one to be concerned about, however, upon taking a closer look, viewers will discover a shocking truth at the end when an incident occurs that is meant to wake people up to the signs of mass shootings and what to pay attention to.
