Unofficial Results from Newtown's Budget Referendum: Report

Voters decided on a $113 million budget and six capital projects Tuesday.

NEWTOWN, CT — During the townwide budget referendum, voters elected to approve a $113 million budget as well as six capital projects on the ballot Tuesday, according to multiple reports including the News Times.

Here are some highlights of the approved budget.

  • A Board of Education budget of $72,9 million
  • A Board of Selectmen budget of $40.4 Million
  • A mill rate increase of 0.27 percent and a budget increase of 0.82 percent.

Residents also elected to approve six capital projects; including a new roof at the Hawley school, funds to design a new police station and more.
