Vehicle Crashes Into Building At Newtown’s Big Y Shopping Center
Emergency crews responded after a vehicle struck a building at Newtown's Big Y Shopping Center.
NEWTOWN, CT — Emergency crews responded Monday morning after a vehicle crashed into a building at the Big Y Shopping Center, authorities said.
Newtown Hook & Ladder, Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue, Newtown Ambulance and paramedic units were dispatched at about 10:29 a.m. for a report of a vehicle into the structure. Firefighters said crews arrived quickly, secured the area and evaluated the extent of structural damage. EMS personnel assessed individuals involved in the incident.
The situation was brought under control shortly after first responders arrived.

Officials said some businesses in the shopping center may experience temporary disruptions as a result of the crash. Residents were encouraged to call ahead to confirm operating hours before visiting.
