WWII Veteran John Farrell, 90, of Newtown Passed Away
Mr. Farrell, of Newtown, was a Veteran and a member of the Danbury Hibernians and the Catholic War Veterans.

NEWTOWN, CT — John Joseph Farrell, Sr., age 90 of Newtown, CT died Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Rocky Hill Veteran's Hospital. He was the husband of the late Dorothy Grace (LeMaire) Farrell. He was born in Queens, NY, November 25, 1925, son of the late Peter and Ann (Walsh) Farrell and served with the Coast Guard during WWII.
He was a truck driver, mechanic and heavy equipment operator all of his life. John was a member of the Hibernians and the Catholic War Veterans. He was an amateur blacksmith and loved to collect tools. He also loved country fairs, where he often displayed his tools and taught people about their use.John is survived by his sons: Patrick M. Farrell and his wife Carol of Newtown, CT, John J. Farrell, Jr. and his wife Linda; 2 grandsons: Patrick and Christopher as well as great grandchildren.
Burial in Calverton National Cemetery. Calverton, NY will be private.
