North Branford Police Department​ Shares Interactive Crime, Statistical Dashboard With Residents

NORTH BRANFORD, CT — The North Branford Police Department is committed to transparency and keeping our community informed, it noted on Facebook.

And with that, shared its Interactive Crime and Statistical Dashboard, which "provides residents with accessible, up-to-date information on police activity and reported crimes within the town."

How does it work?

The dashboard refreshes daily beginning at around 8 a.m., and generally reflects data that is one day behind to ensure accuracy.

The dashboard provides 'transparency with privacy protection.' "Certain information, including precise incident locations or specific call details, may be withheld or adjusted to protect active investigations and the identities of crime victims, as required by law."

Given it is real time data, police wrote that residents should exercise caution when using the dashboard: "Because the data is near real-time, it has not yet undergone a full accuracy review and may change as additional details are verified. The dashboard is intended for informational purposes, and users should exercise discretion when interpreting the data."

"We will continue enhancing this resource to promote transparency, provide meaningful insights, and support the safety and security of all North Branford residents," police wrote.

Police added a disclaimer: "The data presented may not include all incidents, arrests, or activities recorded by the North Branford Police Department. Information is pulled live from internal databases and may be incomplete or subject to revision as reports are finalized."
