Northford's John Calamita, Longtime Public Works Employee, Beloved Community Member Passes Away

Visitation is Friday, 4-8 p.m. at W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home in Branford. His service is Saturday, 11 a.m. at St. Augustine Church.

NORTH BRANFORD, CT — His obituary tells the story of a good and beloved man. Deeply family and community-oriented, a post on the North Branford Public Works Department Facebook page shows how much of a positive impact he made in his life.

John Calamita, the well-known and loved Northford resident who recently retired, was just 65 when he passed away on a snowy first day of 2026.

"It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of John Calamita, a very recently retired dedicated employee of the North Branford Public Works Department.John served the community he resided and raised his family in for 28 years, where he was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to public service. John’s contributions played an important role in maintaining and improving the safety and quality of our community and streets." ~North Branford Public Works Department
