2 Arrested After Incident At Gas Station: North Haven Police

Police responded to a report of a woman possibly in distress, according to officials.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — Two men were arrested after an incident at a gas station early Saturday morning in North Haven, according to police.

Police responded around 12:15 a.m. on Nov. 1 to a gas station in the 200 block of Quinnipiac Avenue on the report of a woman possibly in distress.

Witnesses directed officers to a vehicle that was occupied by two men and one woman, according to police.

Police said officers separated the people involved to investigate further.

“It was determined that a dispute had occurred between one of the males and the female,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “During the investigation, officers learned that a firearm might be present in the vehicle. A subsequent search revealed a firearm inside a backpack within the vehicle.”

Tyler Kibbe, 22, of Hartford, was arrested on charges of third-degree assault, second-degree breach of peace, and possession of a controlled substance (suspected cocaine), according to police.

Luis Alberto Lugo, 22, of New Haven, was arrested on charges of illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, carrying a pistol without a permit, failure to obtain a serial number, and violation of large-capacity magazine.

“Excellent work by our officers in safely resolving this incident,” police wrote. “Violence, drugs, and illegal firearms have no place in our community.”
